I went shopping...

On Tuesday I went to Boots armed with a wishlist, my debit card and a lack of self control. Here's what ended up winging its way home to me...

First up on the hit list was a new foundation. Searching the aisles for a new base is always a hard and trying task for me, as I am the palest of pale and what most brands call 'ivory' is laughable so not wanting to look like an oompa lumpa isn't the easiest. I had my eye on a few foundations to try with mixed results, No7, L'oreal and Rimmel receive true tango status whilst I was pleasantly surprised that Revlon's Nearly Naked offering in Ivory was actually pretty light so this may be revisited. But instead I wanted a little more coverage and went for Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation in Light Vanilla (51). A little dark for me but when blended out it's lovely, provides good coverage, doesn't feel mask like at all and is pretty long lasting. So for first impressions it's looking good.

Of course a repurchase of Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer in Fair (01) was in order as I am always in fear of running out. Whilst a new colour from Essie's spring collection leapt into my basket in the form of greyish, blue toned 'Maximillian Strasse Her'. In need of a new mascara I opted for the much raved about new edition from Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless. I usually go for volumised lashes but have still never found my holy grail mascara. Is this it? No, but it's a great choice none the less, not too wet (my bug bare), not clumpy and layers very well. Last up in the make up category is L'oreal's version of the YSL Glossy Stain, Glam Shine Stain Splash and I picked up Princess (200). A pinky coral, much brighter than I usually go for but I fell in love with the colour and the formula doesn't let it down. Not sticky in the slightest (unlike Rimmel Apocalips) and pretty packaging.

Now an area I always stumble into, skincare. My top aim for the day was to get my hands on Trilogy's Rosehip oil, which I managed to find tucked away on the bottom shelf. I have heard a fair few things about this lately and what amazing things it can do for scarring and so it was a no brainer I had to try it out as acne scarring is my main problem. At £16.50 for 20ml it is very pricey but having only used it twice my skin feels amazing and will keep you updated on my future findings. La Roche Posay's Effaclar Lotion is an exfoliating toner that I have had my eye on for a while. The Clarins version is more than double the price so this was my next best bet and already it has made my skin smooth and soft. Onto to a winner here I feel.

It will be a sad day when I finish my Origins Clear Improvement mask which I am almost out of but at £20 for a new tube I am after a cheaper alternative. In comes Superfacialist by Una Brennan's Tea Flower Pore Purifying Clay mask. I haven't had a chance to road test this yet but am hoping for good things at less than half the price of its Origins equivalent. Needing to upgrade my night moisturiser I popped in Botanics All Bright Hydrating night cream because at £3.49 you can't go wrong and as I follow the Caroline Hirons school of skincare I have ditched the spf in my day moisturiser and amped for Soap and Glorys Feel Good Factor SPF25 to ensure I look 25 when I'm 50!

Plus, honourable mention goes to Garnier's new primer that's rocking the blogging world as of late, 5 sec Perfect Blur. My mum snagged this but it's become a shared item, only right considering we now share my Liquid Gold. (I wholeheartedly regret the day I introduced her to this). I don't know about the blurring effect but on only a few tries I can tell it is keeping my make up place all day without budging. After the frustration of explaining to my mother what order her products go on...I was impressed.

I ticked a good few things of my wishlist, emptied my account and found a few new loves. Adding to that the new shoes I was treated too. Matalan can you believe? Nude, gold detail and £14, they will be on my feet everyday.

I have you tried any of my new purchases? What's on your wishlist right now? But I would avoid shopping with me or you'll end up leaving with a few more things than you bargained for!

  2. Ah those shoes are lovely! Love the colour. I really want the Glam Shine Stain Splash, partly because I will try anything Cheryl endorses, but also sticky glosses are the bane of my life!

Love your blog, so much personality in your writing!

I know, I hate sticky glosses. These aren't at all which has got to be the first non sticky gloss I've ever used. Definitely pick one or two up! :)

Aw thank you! I take that as such a big compliment as I was worried about starting my blog as I wasn't sure my writing would be good enough. Thanks lovely :)

    1. I know I love them, they had them in black too. Matalan shoes can be surprisingly good sometimes, much better quality than Primark.
Ah I know the feeling! I was trying to add up how much I had spent by looking in my basket but nothing can prepare you for the cashier uttering the total haha! x
